What Have We Been Up To?
So now Jackson is 5 months old and we are entering into the next stage of his life. We love Jackson so much and he has such a big personality. He loves when you rub on his belly or tickle his feet. He plays with his ball, but loves his elephant lovey we call Ellie and the elephant crib toy Horton. We never go anywhere without them. He finally enjoys bath time though he doesn't mind not having to take one.
He weighed in at a whopping 16 lbs and 1 oz at his last appointment and was 27.5 inches at his 4 month check up; that's in the 97% for his age. We are pretty sure he is going to be tall like his daddy and his uncles :). He is all legs and does he have some power behind them. He will leave you with bruises when he kicks with his bars.
He has finished his casting process about four months ago.We were so glad to be done with it. I never thought I would love the sight and smell of his little feet so much. And they do stink by the way. He had his heel cord release on May 3rd and received his ponsetti boots and bar on May 23rd. The shoes have lasted him for like four months but he just got measured for new shoes and a new bar. Its an exciting thought but a little sad too because it means he is growing up and getting bigger; a thought that is hard for any mommy. He has adjusted well to the boots; though putting them back on can be a challenge. He finally found his feet about a week ago and now enjoys trying to catch the bar or a strap to hold his legs up in the air. He quite enjoys slamming and banging his boots on any surface (particularly when mommy wants a little quiet time). Its not abnormal to hear him when he wakes up in the morning just banging them around on the bars of his crib.
He has been put on medication for acid reflux and is on a hypoallergenic protein formula and thriving on it. Medication was necessary to keep him happy and to keep him from projectile vomiting (a big problem for him) He loves to eat all the food he can. He loves bananas, mangos, and sweet potatoes. He will not eat anything green, unfortunately. He has tried mashed potatoes and cooked carrots off the table because the doctor said his food obsession may show he is ready to move up. He will stare continually at any food you are eating and open his mouth as if he was going to get some. We have started giving him water with a little sugar and watered down white grape juice (really watered down don't worry). He also started eating the Gerber Puffs; he has only tried the strawberry apple and really likes them.

He has learned to roll over from belly to back and back to belly. Jackson has mostly good head control though when he gets excited or tired he loses it. He vocalizes well and loves to scream, squeal and laugh. He has almost six teeth (one is still coming in) and loves to chew on everything. The dentist said everything looked good. He also has slept through the night for the most part for months. He seems to be having a little trouble with his eye tracking and his arm use. Infant and Toddlers for Calvert County will be evaluating him in a few weeks to check it out.
Jackson has upcoming appointments at his pediatrician for an ear check, his urologist to see about scheduling his surgery, and his orthopedic to move into decreased wear time. He also has an ophthalmology appointment in October to check his ears. Hopefully everything goes well. Here are some of his monthly photos to show how big he has gotten.
